Word From The Head   by Phoebus [11:45 pm PT - May 26, 2000]
Human Head Biz Guy, Tim Gerritsen posted to the RuneNews Forums, with this information for those anxious to get started creating maps, models, skins & etc.:
I just wanted to make one little clarification since we get lots of questions about it. Rune is fully in the Unreal Tournament tech base and will release using the Unreal Tournament tech as well as our own list of enhancements.

As for skinning, modeling, animation and such, we will release details on this after the game comes out. We want to support the mod community, but right now we have to get the game done, and that is our primary goal. You can definitely start working in UT's editor to get your feet wet. We use our own version of the editor called Rune Edit, but you should be able to import your UT maps into it barring any major, unforeseen change before shipping.

As for our modeling and animation, we use our own animation tool called Skeletal that directly imports Softimage models and animations into the Rune game. We will release details on how this all works once the game is out.

Paul MacArthur, uber programmer for the game and lord of the tools will have more to say once he claws his way out of the pile of tasks he has left to finish the game with.

There's an Encyclopedia of Norse Mythology, a genealogy of the Norse pantheon, and much more. There's even a Rune page. :) If you're in search of inspiration for a new nick especially for Rune, it might be a good idea to check it all out!
